Masonville Cove's Internship Program
In 2011, Masonville Cove started its first internship program. The program was established with the local high school, Benjamin Franklin High School. At least two students have been selected every school year to intern at Masonville Cove, to experience what it means to be an environmental educator, and learn the skills needed in a professional work place. This partnership has continued, allowing students to become involved in their communities.
During the summer of 2014, a new component to the Masonville internship program evolved, the Urban Conservation and Education Internship. All partnering organizations created an intense summer long internship for college students that were residents of Baltimore City. The interns were given opportunities at each of the partner sites to learn about the many professions that exist in the environmental field and what educational/professional requirements were needed to succeed in each.
Masonville Cove also works to accommodate internship opportunities for students from other high schools and colleges throughout Baltimore. Some of those high schools include Notre Dame Prep, Friends School, Gilman, Bryn Mawr, and Catonsville High School.
